Tera Labs privacy: where your data lives in each app

Tera Labs privacy, app by app: what Pilotbook, Tera Chat, Tera Studio, TeraCart and Tera Ads keep on your device, what reaches a server, and why.

Tera Labs privacy works product by product: Pilotbook keeps your logbook on your iPhone and in your private iCloud with no Tera Labs servers, Tera Chat stores your messages on your Mac, and Tera Studio, TeraCart and Tera Ads run on servers because they process your voice, your store or your ad accounts. This guide explains what each app keeps, what leaves your device, and what to check in any app's privacy policy.

What to check in any app's privacy policy

Go into any privacy policy with six questions:

  1. Who is responsible? Look for a legal name, an address and a privacy contact.
  2. Where is your data stored? On your device, in your own cloud account such as iCloud, or on the company's servers. Only the last is held by the company.
  3. What leaves your device, and to whom? AI providers, payment processors, email services and hosts should be named.
  4. Is there tracking? Check for analytics and ad tags, and whether they start only after you agree.
  5. How long is it kept, and how do you delete it? Look for retention periods and a clear deletion route.
  6. Is it sold or used to train AI? Expect a plain answer.

The sections below apply those questions to each product made by Tera Labs, TERA LABS USA LLC.

Pilotbook: on your iPhone, with no account

Pilotbook says it doesn't collect any data about you. Your flights, duties, roster, documents, signatures and pilot details are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is on for Pilotbook, they also sync through your private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account, and Tera Labs can't read it. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no account.

What does leave your iPhone:

  • Weather: the airport code you look up goes to aviationweather.gov to fetch its METAR and TAF.
  • Maps: route maps come from Apple Maps.
  • Purchases: Apple handles payment for Pilotbook Pro; the app only learns whether Pro is active.
  • Crash reports: only if you've chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers.

Questions you ask your logbook and ACARS scans are handled on the iPhone. To keep everything on the phone, turn off iCloud for Pilotbook. Full policy: https://teralabs.sh/pilotbook/privacy

Tera Chat: messages on your Mac, AI text passes through

Tera Chat keeps your messages, contacts and relationship stats in a local database on your Mac and never uploads them to a Tera Chat server. Logins and any AI keys you add stay in the macOS Keychain. Full Disk Access is needed only to read your iMessage history.

Some data does move:

  • Your own iCloud: settings, AI insights, drafts, dating personas and an AI cost log sync between your Macs through your iCloud account.
  • AI: when you use an AI feature, the text of that conversation goes to the provider you chose. On a paid Tera Chat AI plan it passes through the terachat.co server on its way to Anthropic, and that server doesn't store or log the text.
  • Paid plans: the server keeps your email, Stripe IDs, plan, a one-way hash of your AI key and usage totals, but no messages or contacts.

The app has no analytics or telemetry. The account is optional and uses emailed sign-in codes instead of passwords. Full policy: https://terachat.co/privacy/

Tera Studio: your voice is processed on servers

Tera Studio trains voices and renders songs on GPU servers, so your files have to leave your device. It keeps your account details, the recordings, songs and photos you upload, the results it makes, and billing records. Drafts sit on its application server; processing files and results are kept with a cloud storage provider. Stripe processes payments, and Tera Studio doesn't receive or store your full card details.

Its policy puts a promise first: access to your recordings and voice models is restricted to your account, and Tera Studio never sells them, never shares them with advertisers and never uses them to train models for anyone else.

  • Analytics and ad measurement are opt-in. Optional analytics and advertising tags, including Meta's, start only after you choose "Allow analytics". "Essential only" keeps them off.
  • Full deletion is a request. Deleting a draft removes the saved project, but removing processing copies, finished songs or a trained voice needs a deletion request through the contact page. Tera Studio replies within 30 days, including under India's DPDP Act.

TeraCart: your store's data lives on the platform

TeraCart collects account details, store settings, catalog and order data, customer records, storefront analytics, support messages, and data from the integrations a merchant chooses to connect. Connecting Facebook or Instagram lets it sync product feeds and send server-side conversion events. TeraCart says it doesn't sell merchant or customer data, and it shares data only with the processors and integrations the service needs.

Merchants can ask for export or deletion through the data deletion page or support@teracart.co. The policy doesn't state retention periods, so ask when you request deletion. Shoppers should start with the store itself: TeraCart's terms make merchants responsible for their stores and customer communications. Full policy: https://teracart.co/privacy

Tera Ads: your ad and store accounts, read on its servers

Tera Ads reads the accounts you connect: Meta Ads, Shopify, and optionally Google Ads and Google Analytics. It also keeps your account details, Stripe references (never your card number), anonymized usage data, and browser and IP details for security. Connection tokens are encrypted before storage, and analytics cookies are optional.

The policy names its processors, including Hostinger for hosting, Anthropic for AI reports, and Zoho ZeptoMail for account email. Data is kept for your subscription plus 90 days, for 30 days after you cancel, and deletion requests are handled within 30 days. As of October 2026, the policy also says its legal controller and privacy contact are still being confirmed, so check the page for the current contact. Full policy: https://teraads.co/privacy
